Description: The Entrepreneurship Club at the Monfort College of Business is hosting a speaking forum called From Student to Entrepreneur on November 18, 2009 at 5:00 PM in Milne Auditorium. The event is featuring Jake Jabs, visionary entrepreneur of American Furniture Warehouse, Troy McWhinney co-founder of McWhinney Enterprises, and Brian Schwartz founder of 50 Interviews.
The event is a unique format where Brian Schwartz owner of 50 Interviews will interview two great Entrepreneurs Jake and Troy in front of a crowd of students, faculty and citizens outside of UNC. The event will be free for UNC students, faculty, and staff. Other people attending can purchase tickets at the door for $5.
The event is a part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. The Global Entrepreneurship Week is an initiative to unleash the next generation of entrepreneurs by inspiring young people everywhere to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. In 2008, three million people took part in more than 25,000 Global Entrepreneurship Week activities planned by 8,892 organizations in 77 countries.
The audience will get a chance to learn from these passionate entrepreneurs. Brian will ask striking questions that engage the audience, sparking ideas on creating something out of nothing (and what it takes), finding the source of fuel entrepreneurs must have, the role of determination, and how finding the right mentors can make all the difference.
Currently there is no better time to become an entrepreneur. Research shows that entrepreneurship leads to economic recovery and Global Entrepreneurship Week frames the recession as a time of entrepreneurial opportunity.
