Established in 1968 at the University of Northern Colorado.
Revised mission and strategy in 1984 to focus exclusively on “high quality, undergraduate-only business education.�
Received a $10.5 million commitment from the Monfort Family Foundation in 1999 and officially changed name to the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business.
Grants a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with emphases in accounting, computer information systems, finance, management, marketing, and general business; also administers an interdisciplinary degree in nonprofit administration.
Recognition:
The first and only business college to be named a recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award by the Office of the President of the United States.
Recipient of the Timberline Award from Colorado Performance Excellence (state version of the Baldrige Award program).
Accredited in business administration, as well as accounting, by AACSB International— (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) placing it among the top 20 percent of business schools (approximately 500 out of 2000 business schools in the U. S. are internationally-accredited by the AACSB).

Typical faculty member is doctorally-qualified (Ph.D., D.B.A., or J.D.) in their area of instruction; several have held senior positions in industry prior to time-of-hire.
Unique Programs
- Monfort Institute: The Institute works to enhance business education and create, manage, and disseminate knowledge to help organizations of all types achieve, sustain, and continuously improve performance and create value for multiple stakeholders in a changing global environment.
- Monfort Executive Professor Program: National and international business executives, including executives from Fortune 500 companies, teach a full or abbreviated class schedule, providing students with practical learning opportunities from their wealth of professional experience.
- Student and Foundation Fund (SAFF): Select students manage a $1 million+ investment fund (actual dollars) - one of the largest undergraduate funds in the United States. The fund regularly keeps pace with or outperforms the S&P 500.
- Nonprofit Administration: The only undergraduate nonprofit administration program in Colorado. Offered jointly with UNC’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences and accredited by American Humanics. Prepares students for entry-level positions in nonprofit organizations.
- Colorado Business Resource Center: Junior and senior business students serve as interns in a state-wide business call facility. Students serve as resident experts on basic business start-up information and steer callers toward appropriate print and electronic resources.
Facility
Kepner Hall on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado houses all offices, business student support services, and classrooms for the Monfort College of Business.
Built in 1910 and completely renovated in 1987.
All classrooms equipped with high-end instructional technology podiums, including PCs, multimedia projection systems, document cameras, DVD, and VCRs.
Open and use-specific student PC labs, containing a total of 140 high-end workstations.-State of the art computers in all facilities available to students.
