DEAN JOE ALEXANDER LEAVING MONFORT COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

The Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado today announced the imminent departure of Dean Joe Alexander, who has led the college as dean since March 2002. Alexander has accepted a position at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., where he will be associate dean and senior professor of performance excellence at the Jack C. Massey Graduate School of Business. His term at Monfort will end on June 30, 2007.

Under Alexander’s leadership the Monfort College of Business has achieved national acclaim and seen record numbers in both academic accomplishments and funding. College achievements during his tenure have included:

Dean Alexander has continued the tradition of excellence at the Monfort College of Business, taking it to the national stage. The college’s receipt of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award gave the college role model status among business schools, said Kay Norton, President of the University of Northern Colorado.

As he has traveled domestically and internationally speaking about the college’s system for measuring learning outcomes and quantifying performance indicators, he has been a superb ambassador and recruiter for both the college and the university. We wish him the very best as he continues his endeavors in performance excellence, she said.
At the Massey Graduate School of Business, Alexander will provide leadership for both their Master of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy programs.

He will be developing and implementing an aggressive enrollment growth strategy and managing the marketing and recruitment strategy to support new program development. He will also be responsible for ensuring that students in the graduate school receive outstanding instruction and service from the graduate faculty and staff. Alexander will hold the tenured rank of full professor, and will be teaching graduate-level courses.

Alexander will continue as chair-elect of the Foundation for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. His duties as chair will begin in 2008.
