8:30a - Beyond Performance Excellence: Challenges and Opportunities - Jim Evans

This paper reports the results of one project that is sponsored by the Monfort Institute and focuses on the key question: What must role-model Baldrige recipients do to achieve higher levels of performance?  We will describe our work at analyzing Baldrige recipients' feedback reports to identify themes that help to understand the strengths, and more importantly, the opportunities for improvement across a broad base of recipients.

9:45a - Society for Organizational Learning – Sherry Immediato and George Roth

Sherry will discuss the SoL mission, organizational research and focus on the global community. George Roth from the MIT Sloan School of Management Lean Advancement Initiative will discuss his current research initiatives that align improvements across multiple organizations, prioritizing changes in products and services within a specific value stream over local organizational factors. This current focus builds upon his ongoing research in organizational leadership, learning, change and culture.

11:30a - Leadership Systems – Design and Model - John Latham

This paper and presentation will report the findings of the CEO study on leading the journey to performance excellence. A leadership system model will be presented and discussed.

1p - Baldrige CEO Attitudes and Motivations: Developing a Model of Excellence, John Latham

This research report and presentation will explore the attitudes and motivations of Baldrige recipient CEOs compared to other senior leaders and the standard group. A “model of excellence” will be presented and discussed.

1:30p - Enlivening the Senses through Innovation - Ritz Carlton, Boston

Hear how The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common applied a 4 Step Innovation Process to enliven the senses of their guests. Starting with a theme, “The Fine Art of Living”, the hotel created numerous features that would bring that theme to life throughout a guest stay.

2:30p - Brainstorming with a Twist - Janet Crutchfield

Discover a new twist on the tried and true technique of brainstorming.  During this session, you will gain practical experience using a new approach to brainstorming that drives innovative ideas.

3:15p - Innovation in Manufacturing Pro Tec - Eric Franks

4:00p - Innovation - "Defined and Measured" - Jan Englert and Eric Franks

Explore the commonalities and differences on the definition and application of innovation between the different sectors - Manufacturing, Small Business, Service, Education, Health Care, and Government and Non-profit.

8:00a Sustainability Presentation - Update from Monfort Institute - John Grant 

This session will incorporate ideas from the earlier “Innovation” sessions and apply them to developments pertaining to organizational sustainability, broadly defined. In addition, recent developments regarding “sustainability reports” will be described in terms of various stakeholders’ expectations about “performance excellence” for highly visible organizations. Examples from Baldrige applicants and awardees will be included.
